How God is preparing for Kids Club
Last week, Charlie and I were sitting in our living room winding down after a big day of teaching at CCS. It was 9:30pm and almost time to head for bed. All of a sudden the door bell rang at our gate. This wasn't the normal ringing as someone was anxiously ringing it over and over and over. Lots of questions ran through our mind as we both got up to find out who it may be. When we got outside, we could hear a voice yelling, "Hermana Tamara!" (Sister Tamara!) At once we recognized who was at our gate...Flabia, the sister of the young boy (Jorge Hugo) for who many of you have been praying. Why was she at our gate at this time of the night? We spoke to her through the slot of the gate. She had come to ask when we were going to begin Kids Club. We told her that it would begin the first Saturday of March at 10am. Before we knew it, Flabia was off down the street.
Three days later, when Miguelina, our Bolivian friend, came to our house to help Tami with some housework, she shared how several other children had been asking when Kids Club was going to begin. She told us that she explained it was to begin in 2 weeks. The children were disappointed, saying that 2 weeks is such a long time to wait! They are so excited to come to Kids Club!
Then, this last Monday afternoon there was pounding on our front gate and a little girl's voice calling, "Tamara!" When Tami opened the gate, Dayana and Gloria (2 girls from our Kids Club) were standing there. They asked why we haven't opened our gate for "iglesia" (church) in such a long time. Tami explained how we went back to the states to be with her mom who had a stroke. Then, Dayana came closer to Tami and took off her sunglasses to show Tami her left eye. It was a foggy color grey. It was such a contrast to her other beautiful dark brown right eye. Dayana went on to explain that her cousin had thrown a pencil and it hit her in the eye. She said she has very little vision in it and already had a procedure done on it, and it didn't work. How sad! She is only 9 or 10 years old and will most likely have to live with only vision in her right eye. We told her we would pray for her, which made her smile and say "thank you." Dayana and Gloria left our gate saying they were going to walk home and spread the word that Kids Club begins this Saturday!!! They were very excited!
Three days later, Charlie and I met in our Bible classroom at recess with students who were interested in serving alongside us in Kids Club. Praise the Lord with us as 17 High School students attended the meeting to find out more information about this ministry! We look forward to serving with these students!
The above happenings are proof that God is at work preparing this Bible Club ministry for His glory! When our family returned to Bolivia in December after 7 months away in the states, Charlie and I prayed asking God to grant us wisdom as to when He wanted us to begin Kids Club again. Our hearts and minds seemed to indicate the first Saturday in March. Well, ever since the day we made that date firm, the Lord showed us evidence of His hand at work by what we explained above! How exciting to see Him place His approval and peace on this particular ministry of His!
